Description
Bilt-Rite of England Circa 1957Baby Pram Buggy CarriageColor: Silver/White*Free shipping applies to local pick-up. All others please enter your zip code below to determine shipping. This is an absolutely stunning piece that is bound to get so many compliments when you push your baby down the street in this! Description:Made up of white & silver painted base & still present, the shiny clear coat finish, with a Rich, Classy silver hood. Solid as the day it was new. One of the top models made that year. With a gorgeous tan handle appears to be ivory or sort. The frame is metal and has foot brake and release. Made by Bilt-Rite (A London company known for its Prams). Also has foot extension compartment that drops down as shown in the picture below as your child grows, as well as, an upright position for when your child wants to look around. The interior is in excellent shape, no rips or tears and includes original white mattress and I will even include the original blanket/coverlet that the owners purchased then too. The detail on it is just beautiful. It has the original Bilt Rite emblem encased on a Royal Crown on the front of the Pram and has the Fleur de Lis symbol on each side, which has consistently been used as a royal emblem, to show wealth in dynasties or to show status as well as used by many other cultures. Made in England imprinted on the undercarriage. The white tires have yellowed with age as you can see from the pictures (nothing a little white shoe polish can't fix)! They are not missing any hubcaps, which is rare. There is very minimal rust as you can see in the close up of the wheel. Ultra smooth riding, they don't make the smooth suspension like this even on the new models today! Top quality finishing inside and out, classic heritage style. All weather protection for baby includes the original rain boot which snaps on to really shield out the weather & wind, Sun canopy also extends and locks in place as shown. There is only one small tear on the side of the hood, which doesn't go all the way through so your baby wouldn't be affected by this. I'm sure you could find either a repair kit or hot glue a beautiful silver teddy bear or baby rattle patch and no one would be the wiser. There is also a piece of plastic trim missing near the foot of the bassinet, which has been taped by the owner and again, really isn't noticeable or affects the use. You really can't find one in such incredible condition like this anymore, unless someone purchased it and stored it away for 50 years! Even still, just one of the most beautiful English Prams still around for being 52 years old. History: I purchased this from an Old English couple. They purchased this for their little girl before she was even born in 1956. It was purchased new from Macy's in New York City for $85.00 back then (which is the equivalent to $2,600.00 today). It has been stored in their living room ever since she grew out of it. (which explains why there's minimal rust. Now their redoing their kitchen and just don't have the room for it anymore and they don't have any grandchildren to pass it down to, so they sold it to me. These prams appraise between $800.00-$1,000.00. Really a nice piece, you won't be disappointed. I tried to photograph every angle, if there's a particular part you'd like me to photograph for more detail, just ask! : )Shipping/Local Pick-up:Local pick-up is free and you must select "other" as your shipping choice. As far as shipping goes, this would have to be shipped in either in a wardrobe box or in two over sized boxes and shipping would be in the neighborhood of $150.00 + insurance which is why I'm offering local pick-up. However, if you're don't mind the shipping charge, I don't mind shipping it.
