Feel free to change fabrics as this your custom set. Also on my comforters, I use atleast an 8oz batting because of the thickness. I want you to be able to use the comforter for tummy-time. My bumpers are filled with a product called Nu-foam bumper batting which is made specifically for baby bumpers.
