This is a great bed for your special needs child. It is a Stockton Hospital Bed by Hard Manufacturing - The nations #1 manufacturer of hospital cribs. Very well made - very durable - great look. It gives you the comfort of knowing that your child is secure and protected as well as giving your child and his/her room the look of a typical childs room. Of all the equipment we have purchased for our child's needs this is by far the best and most beneficial purchase. This bed is electric with the controls on the outside of the footboard ~ it also comes with manual control cranks. The bed raises to a height that makes it easier for the parent/caregiver to assist the child - raised to full height the top of the mattress is 33" from the floor. It also lowers allowing the child to get out of the bed, once the side rails are lowered, if able or for easy transfers from bed to wheelchair and visa versa. Both sides of the bed can be lowered or raised. At the lowest level the top of the mattress is 24" from the floor. Bed can be used with casters for easy movement or placed directly on the floor - casters lock for safety. Both the head and foot of the bed raise like a regular hospital bed. The head or foot can be raised alone or together. All of these movements can be performed by the electric controls. Not only is the bed great for all kind of medical needs (also has pole holes along head and foot board to necessary holders for fluids, etc), safety and comfort - it looks great. The bed is off-white metal with the footboard being red on the outside/yellow on the inside and the headboard being blue on the inside and red on the outside. The bed measures 36"X72" (Stockton Model 1030 Electric) - it comes with a mattress that measures 34"X68". We have had the bed for approximately 4 years - the mattress is still in great shape - it has a wipeable cover that has been regularly cleaned and the mattress has been reqularly turned.My son has multiple disabilities which include Cerebral Palsy, A Seizure Disorder, Mental Retardation, and is visually impaired. He is now a teenager and although he has room to grow in this bed he has become more active than anticipated and needs a bigger bed. For this reason alone we are replacing this bed. If it were as wide as a double bed I would not part with it.New ~ this bed cost $7,000 + and is normally not covered by insurance. Suggested resale value of this bed in pre-owned condition by Hard Manufacturing is $5,000.00 - I am offering this at a buy it now $3000.00 below the pre-owned value - for 10 days as a New Years Sale.   Also, there is no shipment available - it is for pick up only.
